you’ll need

a chopping board

a potato peeler

a sharp knife

a grater

a lemon squeezer

a big saucepan with a lid

a blender

a wooden spoon

ingredients

675g carrots

2 cloves of garlic

1 orange

1 lemon

half a pint of water

a big pinch of ground nutmeg

half a pint of orange juice

half a pint of single cream (a vegan alternative will do the trick too)

salt and pepper

Step 1

Peel and slice the carrots, peel the garlic, peel and grate the orange zest and squeeze out some lemon juice.

step1

Step 2

Put the carrots, garlic, zest, orange juice and water in the pan. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes until the carrots are soft.

step2

Step 3

Let the soup cool for a few minutes. Add the nutmeg and lemon juice, pour it all into a blender and whizz until it’s smooth.

step3

Step 4

Put the soup back in the pan, stir in the cream and add the salt and pepper. Reheat the soup (but don’t let it boil).

step4

Step 3

Pour the soup carefully into bowls so it doesn’t splash all over the place.

Step 4

Wait for everyone to compliment you on its great taste.
