Don't worry, we're not using any actual butterflies here. Just paint and paper to make something that looks like one.
Step 1
Head outside and see if you can spot any butterflies. If you can get close enough, try and notice how the pattern on their wings is the same on both sides. Take some photos if you can (don’t worry, butterflies love a photoshoot).
Step 2
Take a piece of A4 paper, and fold it in half lengthways.
Step 3
With some paint, invent a pattern to go on the left wing of a butterfly. Paint it on the left-hand side of your paper (imagine the butterfly’s body is down the middle crease).
Step 4
While the paint is still wet, fold the paper over and press down hard (you can pop a heavy book on top if you like).
Unfold the paper and reveal your symmetrical butterfly print.
Go back and show it to the butterfly you originally took a picture of.
