Thoughts from July 2007

lyrical workout

Here's a little something we just came across on youtube. You could lose yourself for hours in that site. It's actually quite dangerous when you've got work to do, like me. This was research though. Hmmm.

all the fun of the fair

This is Dominique and Hannah. They just came into Fruit Towers for a visit with their mum Buzz (who runs the great knitting and craft shop All the Fun of the Fair in Kingly Court off London's Carnaby Street).

They brought in some very nice hand knitted fruit for us along with some hand knitted bunting for our longest bunting in the world attempt. We're going to stick the fruit up on our notice board and the bunting up around some trees at our village fete in Regent's Park.

Thanks Dominique, Hannah & Buzz.

Clockwise from 12 o'clock: Pear, Pineapple, Water Melon, Banana, Carrot, Orange.

latitude festival

This weekend, we got our wellies out to go the Latitude festival in Suffolk. There was lots of great stuff happening. Highlights included:

Our village fete

Crooning by Damien Rice, the Magic Numbers, CSS and Arcade Fire

The hair of the dingo (?)

And some multi coloured sheep

the manston village fete

On Saturday a bit of rare sunshine shone down on the Manston village fete in Dorset. I popped down there to help my mum out with her annual coconut shy duties. Apart from a smashing cream tea, other highlights from the fete included the Shaftesbury Town Band...

...the Stour Lacemakers, with their amazing antique bobbins and nimble fingers...

...lots of fruit and veg...

...the Sturminster Newton majorettes...

...and Sam's coconut victory...
