Superfoods

Super duper

There’s no official term for the word superfood. But the most well-known definition of a superfood relates to the fruit and vegetable section in the supermarket. In this case the term superfood describes a food that is particularly rich in phytochemicals. We looked at fruits and vegetables that were particularly high in a specific nutrients and from this created special drinks with that little something extra.

You may ask if calling certain fruits and vegetables a superfood a good thing as it could just make and you eat only one type of fruit or veg. Eating a varied healthy balanced diet is the most important thing and you should try lots of different fruits and vegetables to get a variety of nutrients. Some people call this the rainbow diet because every colour brings with it specific nutrients and it's good to get plenty on board. There may be times though when you want something that has gives you extra nourishment in a very natural way. So we made our Superfoods range which are special smoothies with a little extra goodness.

We have 4 drinks in this range each with a different benefit – we have a detox smoothie, a vitamin C smoothie , fruit and vegetable smoothie and a energy smoothie.

Detox Smoothie

Detox

Our detox smoothie provide a 3680 umol of anti-oxidant per drink and we had to use special fruits to provide the goodness.

This smoothie is made with a special little berry called the acai. Found in the rainforests of Brazil it has the most amazing natural anti oxidant properties.Combined with pomegrantes and blueberry it’s a nutritional power house. It contains a high amount of antioxidants called anthocyanins.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C Smoothie

This Vitamin C recipe is made with blackcurrants, acerola cherries and rosehips. All the ingredients were chosen for the naturally occurring vitamin C levels.
The result is a recipe that gives you 5 times your RDA of vitamin C. And if your body doesn't need quite that amount it will pee it out.

Fruit and Vegetable Smoothie

Vitamin A & C

Eating enough veggies is harder to achieve than getting enough fruit. With this in mind we developed our fruit and veg smoothie which is a gorgeous combination of mango, orange and carrot.

Carrot contains vitamin A which is important for normal vision. It’s also important for the normal structure and function of the skin . Our fruit and vegetable smoothie has 160ug of vitamin A which means it has 50% of the RDA per serving.

Energy

Energy

We chose the guava fruit which has one of the highest fibre contents and blended it with another high fibre fruit mango and goji berries. The result is our lowest glycaemic index (GI) smoothie. The fibre will slow down the release of glucose into the body and the result is a drink that will keep you going and going.
