Roughing it
Fibre is an essential part of any diet. It adds bulk to foods, slowing digestion time and increasing fullness. It also aids gut transit and intestinal health, whilst containing protective phytochemicals.
There are two type of fibre, soluble and insoluble.
Soluble fibre which is found in some fruits combines with water to make
a gummy substance that slows down the way the body digests food.
Insoluble fibre acts like a sponge holding water in the bowel and
helps you go to the loo.
Your recommended daily intake is 25g per day and figures from nutrition surveys show that 80% of people don't get the recommended amount of fibre in their diet
Because our smoothies contain whole crushed fruit they have up to 6g of fibre per 250ml serving. The recipes with the most (6g) are mangoes & passion fruits and cranberries & raspberries.
